Digital Course Material Fee Program

What is a Digital Course Material Fee?

Digital course materials are delivered to your Canvas course page prior to the first day of class and charged on your student account. The bookstore does not place traditional orders for textbooks because students access the book electronically. This way you get the content your instructor selected at drastically reduced prices. Often the digital materials include interactive learning tools, but sometimes the digital course material will be a standalone eBook with helpful study tools.

Digital course materials are delivered to your Canvas course page prior to the first day of class and charged on your student account. The bookstore will not place traditional orders for your textbooks because all of your students will receive the book electronically. This way you get the content your instructor selected at drastically reduced prices. Often the digital materials include interactive learning tools, but sometimes the digital course material will be a standalone eBook with helpful study tools.

How does it work?

The digital course material costs are included in your class fees and appear on your bill as “Material BS Class Fee". You can access the materials through Canvas. You will also receive an email through your ctcLink “preferred email” explaining the process. If you drop the class before the 100% tuition refund date, you will automatically be refunded the fee.

You have the choice to “opt-out” of receiving your materials through this process by using the link in Canvas. If you choose that option, the fee will be refunded to your student account after the 100% tuition refund date. Note: If you opt out, you are still responsible for purchasing your required course materials directly through the publisher.

What if you really want to have a printed book in addition to the eBook?

The bookstore can special order books for most of these courses, or there may be a link included with your digital course materials to purchase a print copy directly from the publisher. These printed materials are only for students?who do not opt out. You’ll need digital access to complete your assignments.
